Liz and Steve tie the knot...
Many congratulations to Liz Craig and Steve Abbey, on 8 November 2008 they (finally) married. Here's a photo of the happy couple:

Hugh gets published
Check out the latest edition of the IPMS magazine, Hugh has had an article about a Post Windmill published. Hugh is a dab-hand at scratch building. Why not take a few minutes to read his article and study the pictures.
Les Makes Tea!
It may be hard to believe but it's true...
Club Meeting Dates...
The club normally meets on the 3rd Sunday every month. The next meeting is on:
Jeff wins loudest shirt competition...
The club held its first ever social event on Saturday 21 June. Jeff (wearing red) won the hotly contested loudest shirt competition. Here he is receiving a bottle of sparkling wine from Steve who came close second:

We must say a big "Thank you" to the Beyts family who hosted the social - also to the heavens because, for the most part, the rain held off.
There are a few more images taken at the social on the Work and Play page.
More pages have been added to our website recently...
They include galleries for Animals, Figures, Military Aircraft, WWI & WWII, an Events 2008 page, some images of a few club members working (or is it playing?) and some images of the winning entries in our summer competition.
We've now almost got a complete set of club members biographies too!
Earley Risers Annual Competition 2008
This year's competition was held at the club’s May Meeting. The results were:
Risers Award
1st Edward Pinnigar: German Cog
2nd Edward Pinnigar: Italian M13/14 Tank
3rd Edward Pinnigar: B58 Hustler
Earley Risers Challenge Cup
1st Hugh Beyts: DC2
2nd Edward Pinnigar: SMS Konig
3rd Liz Craig: The Beatles
Hugh writes "Although there was a good selection of models on display once again several modellers were unrepresented.
A close scrutiny of the rules enabled Ed to make some last minute tactical entries which gave him a good chance at winning and maximising his prize money. It certainly paid off . It pays to enter! Under the rules Ed will not be eligible to enter the Risers Award in future. Ed was a winner in more senses than one, going home with the most prize money. Bags of it!
The Challenge Cup was very close with a three-way tie on first place counts. Results were decided by second place counts and there was only one count separating each model. Hugh will be forced to bow out of next year’s competition.
Thank you to all members who entered, all those who took part in the judging and to Steve who adjudicated.
Remember the primary aim of the competition is to encourage as many members as possible to enter as many models that are eligible."
